CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

★ K1 - CARDIO KICKBOXING
Our kickboxing and fitness classes combine the essence of martial arts – like respect, discipline, and good form – with a fusion of modern music and easy-to-follow combinations. Unlike health clubs, which may involve complicated dance choreography, Studio Kicks focuses on solid execution of basic moves – and all our classes are completed in short, but very intense, 45-minute sessions. All three styles are serious, intense, waste no time, and contain no actual fighting. So you get all the moves, muscle tone and conditioning, but never have to worry about getting punched or kicked. Read the descriptions below and decide where you want to get started. All classes offer something different; pick whatever feels right for you.

★ K2 - CARDIO BAG CLASS
This is an intense cardio workout that requires boxing gloves, and involves punching and kicking water-filled bags. A full-body, very intense routine, the K2 moves are still simple enough for beginners to follow, and the increased element of power and focus add an excellent complement to the K1 class. Plus, hitting the bags can help relieve stress and promote relaxation long after the class is over. Like K1, all muscle groups are used, but the weight of the gloves and the contact with the bags place more emphasis on muscle power than the K1 class. (Boxing gloves are available for purchase at Studio Kicks, but we will loan boxing gloves to 1st time students who want to check out the class.)

★ POWER KICKBOXING
This serious power kickboxing class is not for beginners. Intermediate and advanced students engage in training drills typically found in martial arts, with extreme emphasis on hitting, kicking, and foot work – and done in “round by round” action, with alternating extreme power moves, followed by periods of short rest. Students make hard contact to bags and multiple pads – or they pummel “Bob,” our crash-test dummy (there is no sparring or actual fighting in this class). This is perfect for people who want to experience the athleticism and defense tactics of martial arts, but lack the time to pursue the full Tae Kwon Do series. Students must have their own gloves and wrist wraps – and be prepared to sweat and breathe HARD!
